1. Most helpful tool or website you used to help you plan?
We used a variety of checklists we found online to make sure we didn't forget any main items or vendors! This also helped us know how far in advance to book our vendors and take care of items (such as going to get our marriage license). We also had a spreadsheet created for the day before our wedding and the day of our wedding that outlined what still needed to be done and who was assigned to bring or finish it.
2. Wedding Date?
We were married on November 30, 2014.
3. Wedding location and time of day?
We were married at Stone Oak Ranch in Murchison, Texas at 4:30 in the afternoon.
4. Hors d'oeuvres or meal? Catered, potluck, family provided or cake only?
We had both hors d'oeuvres and a catered meal. We created a carnival for our cocktail hour to entertain our guests, which had a charcuterie station and carnival foods (such as mini cotton candy and mini funnel cake). We decided to have a few food stations provided by our caterer that included some of our favorite foods for dinner--shrimp cocktails, gyros, live wok station, and a salad/pasta bar.
5. Number of guests and number in bridal party?
We had around 120 guests, and we had 8 people in our bridal party.
6. Wedding colors?
We tried to stay with a neutral color palette that included gold, ivory and silver.
7. Types of flowers and describe your decor style?
We talked with our florist, and she came up with all of our bouquets and banquet floral centerpieces in one short meeting! It was great that we could trust her completely with the design, and it prevented us from having to worry about the type of flowers she was going to use on our wedding day.
8. Funny story about your wedding?
We decided to have a Star Wars themed temporary tattoo station at our reception. We loved seeing our grandparents, all over 80 years old, with "tattoos" of Star Wars characters on their arms! We also loved that the temporary tattoos were very difficult to remove, which meant our wedding guests received many compliments (and strange looks) days later.
9. Most memorable moment?
One of our favorite memories was how surprised and elated our guests were during our first dance. We did not want to do a traditional first dance, and we had instead practiced a salsa for about a month before our wedding. Although we hoped our guests would like the dance, we did not expect the guests to cheer and clap the whole time!
10. Biggest surprise of the wedding?
My parents surprised us with a Ford Model A as our exit transportation! We have always loved restored cars, and the Model A was a beautiful surprise.
11. What advice do you have for other brides reading this?
We recommend to not stress over the little items.
12. Was there a honeymoon, if so where?
We went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon.
13. Describe his face/that moment when you first saw him as you started down the aisle.
Since we wanted a casual and stress-free day, we decided to have a first look before the ceremony.
